Rugby, Rugby, Rugby

Rugby, Rugby, Rugby....  I never thought when I first saw Rugby almost 20 years ago I would still be involved with it.  In fact I made a point of intentionally pushing myself away from the sport and the club all together.  Last year I was asked to go watch my old team play a another team we use to beat up on regular basis.  I was stunned with what I saw.  The team I knew and loved was gone, replaced by a bunch of some the most non rugby playing individuals I had seen.  The number of cardinal rules that were being broken just shocked me.  They argued with each other, ran away from suport and showed little knowledge of the game.  It reminded of the first team I played with in germany, LOL.  I volunteered to start coaching, because it was obvious that the team would soon die without any help.

As of now we have a group college kids playing in a mens division club.  It has taken almost a year but using sound principles of rugby (tackle, ruck, set).  We are making progress.  Slowly but surely we are making prgress.  My next goal is to get more local adults involved with the team.  This is where I am uncertain.  I don't want to drag the drunks from the bar.  This has never worked in the past.

Got asked one of the questions I have been dreading from my 10 year old daughter last night.  It may seem kinda silly to some but I really didn't want hear my child ask "How old are you when Santa quits bringing you presents"?  I was floored.  She is such a smart child plus I am sure she has it figured out but doesn't want to believe it.  Several times she said "I know you guys wouldn't get up at midnight to put presents out"!!!   It didn't help that my wife says things before she can think what the result would be.

Where has my baby gone??  There is no way she can be at this point yet.

Saturday may be a Rugby Day!!! But Sunday is just a Day to get lost

What an awesome weekend that god provided us!!!  Got to play a scrimmage match of Rugby on Saturday.  I played 2 halves and enjoyed every minute of it.  I am very excited about the direction the team is heading this season.  Sunday started off with a great service at LaCroix church where we talked about 1 Corinthians 12.  We are all given spirital gifts, we are responsible for using them. Then later that day I got the opportunity to train with the Cape Girardeau County Search and Rescue (CGC SAR).  All I got to do was just to go get lost and let the dogs find me but it was alot of fun.  They are looking for volunteers and I feel this would be a great way to serve my community.

All in all a great weekend.

Getting back at it

Finally was able to run again after a 3 week break due to the Virus that tried to kill me.  Felt good but not as fast as I want to be.  I never am though.  Still 2.5 miles at sub 10 min mile is a good place... again

One of the amazing things you don't get to see unless you get up early enough to look around.  I am fortunate to get to see things like this on my morning runs.

First post

I just have to have someplace to pour things out.  Some place that they can be found again.
